This is an incredible photo. The power, expression, and position of the horse is almost something out of a storybook and shows absolute confidence and joy. The rider's expression is wonderful, too, and she is in perfect sync with her horse. It's not a shot you would expect to see, much less catch, and you've done a wonderful job. The background has an unusual balance as well. Not only the stormy sky, which is simply perfect (because, to be honest, I would not believe a blue sky) but the spectators are perfectly positioned as well. Personally, I can't say I like the spectators, but here they serve to bring a sense of reality to this piece, as well as some balance of positive and negative space. I love this picture.
Lovely photo, from the joy in the rider's face to the concentration in the horse's eye. On what appears to be a gloomy day you have a nice, clear well-lighted foreground image. I love the composition. For me what really makes the piece are the folks in the background so focused on the action and yet clearly having a a good time. Congrats! Fav. On a side note I am impressed with the D7000. I have a D90 and, while I really enjoy it, I have come to know it's shortcomings. I have a bit of camera envy here.
Thank you! What software do you use? I was lucky enough to get a used laptop with Lightroom 3 license from a dear friend, I must say it really enables me to get the best out of my shots. In other words....I'm not sure that the quality of the shots always is dependent on the camera and lens.
