This is, in my opinion, absolutely gorgeous.
You captured the horse's movement with perfection and the picture's stillness is contrasted by this feeling of a fast element being stopped for a split second. I love how the muscles are so well delineated, their prominence giving a feeling of strength and power.
The animal's gaze is intense, and so are the colours. I find it amazing that each layer has its own colour, the background being almost white, the horse, bearing sheer black. The way the light reflects in the subject’s fur is also amazing, and that piece of – should I call it rope? – extending until who knows where gives an interesting effect of wishing to be free, running away, but always being tied. I also like its undulation.
I didn't give you 5 stars in originality because it’s not like horses aren't a common subject; however, this is a shot that could (probably) never be reproduced, so it’s very unique.
All in all, this amazing picture in every aspect.

I want to explain what I love about this shot. Let's look at the background - the whole background is very 'geometric' - starting at the sky which is a large block of white, then below that - meadow which are horizontal bands and finally as your eye descends, you have the more complex shapes created by the fence lines. The background 'action' increased but is no match for what you are about to see - a mass of pure animal energy! Wow.

If Zorran were not off to the side in the photo you might well be knocked off your chair.

Any time you see a great Stangl image you have to notice the power of the 'eye'. It's one of his trademarks. All attention is drawn to the eye, where we see Zorran in a state of excitement. Don't get in this horse's way.

The person holding the lead is indeed brave - and speaking of leads - what an amazing bit of visual 'tour de force' - the line is limp (don't think for a moment you could pull this horse to a stop), yet it is full of tension. The curve of the lead is a visually exciting, bringing your eye down and then up.

What can we say about Zorran? A symphony of subtle contrasts - glistening in a way that shows off the muscular animal. There is no stopping this animal. The power captured here is nothing short of awesome. He's coiled and ready to take off - you can almost read his thoughts - I LOVE RUNNING!

Anders - this is a great photo.
